On Friday, October 12, 2012, the CBC documentary program The Fifth Estate aired a one-hour episode entitled "The Life and Death of Gloria Taylor." Gloria Taylor was the lead plaintiff in the assisted-dying constitutional challenge, Carter v. Canada (Attorney General).
The documentary focuses on Taylor, her struggle with ALS and her reasons for participating in the litigation. It also provides some explanation of the complex issues at the heart of the controversial case and introduces the legal team, which includes Sheila Tucker, co-counsel for the Plaintiffs.
The documentary was completed before Taylor's sudden and unexpected death, from a severe infection arising from a perforated colon, on October 4.
