Davis LLP was pleased to host a Canadian International Council luncheon on June 21, 2013 in the firm's Toronto office. The well-attended event drew focus on Canada's evolving role and development priorities in the international community and featured special speaker The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of International Cooperation.
Minister Fantino delivered a compelling keynote address on Canada's ongoing commitment to providing humanitarian aid to developing economies and outlined how the new Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development will continue to further our nation's efforts on the world stage. "Development is an integral part of our government's efforts to promote a more secure and prosperous world," said the Minister, emphasizing that the cultivation of steady international economic growth will ultimately benefit all Canadians.
Following the speech, the Minister took questions from an appreciative audience, which included representatives from the media, the government, charitable organizations, NGOs, business communities, and academia.
The luncheon was chaired by Davis LLP's Bill Hearn.
