Gavin MacKenzie Quoted in Law Times on Self-Governance of Legal Profession

Superior Court Justice Edward Morgan recently made the decision that Master Ronald Dash overstepped jurisdiction in finding lawyer Murray Teitel guilty of sharp practice in Haider Humza Inc. v. Mohammed Rafiq.

Davis LLP's Gavin MacKenzie explains in an interview with Law Times why this is a "welcome decision."

“I think the importance of it is that it reinforces the exclusive jurisdiction of the [Law Society of Upper Canad] to make findings of breaches of the Rules of Professional Conduct,” he says in one part of the story. “I think that’s important as far as the self-governance of the profession is concerned and I think it’s also partly a matter of fairness.”
