OPA to awards over 800 new mid-sized FIT contracts
The Ontario Power Authority began awarding an additional 839 Feed-in Tariff projects today. All of the new projects are capacity allocation exempt, meaning they generate less than 250 kW or 500 kW, depending on the line voltage to which they connect. In aggregate, the new projects will generate more than 140 MW of renewable power. The projects were awarded to proponents that applied to the FIT between June 5 and December 10, 2010.
In an accompanying news release, the government emphasized the potential for the projects to help attract more than $900 million in private-sector investment to the province and create up to 2,000 new jobs.
The full list of projects is available on the OPA's website.
