Originally from Nova Scotia, John Landry obtained a B.B.A., Economics (with Distinction) in 1975 and an LL.B. in 1980, both from the University of New Brunswick. In 1983, John attended the LL.M. program at the University of British Columbia and has practiced in Vancouver at Davis LLP since that time.
John's practice focuses on civil litigation with emphasis on international trade, corporate commercial and energy-related litigation. In addition, he provides general and strategic advice to clients on energy-related and trade matters including issues arising under North American electricity regulatory regimes, the Columbia River Treaty, NAFTA, and the WTO. He has appeared as counsel in all levels of court in British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, New Brunswick and other Canadian jurisdictions, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has frequently appeared before numerous energy related administrative tribunals including the British Columbia Utilities Commission, the Manitoba PUB, the Yukon Utilities Board, and the National Energy Board.
