Chris Barnett

Chris Barnett is a partner at Davis LLP and practises in the areas of administrative and regulatory law, with a focus on environmental, municipal, and planning advice and approvals.
He specializes in providing clients in both the public and private sectors with strategic advice on co-ordinating the various levels of approvals required for complex projects. Chris has expertise in advising public-sector clients with respect to aggregate resource policies and applications, as well as advising large landowner groups on environmental assessment processes and approvals and the implications of the provincial Places to Grow plan. Chris is the head of the Toronto office Municipal and Land Use Planning practice, which has been annually ranked as "Repeatedly Recommended" for land use planning work in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory since 2008. Chris appears regularly before the Ontario Municipal Board, and has appeared before all levels of courts in Ontario. His practice has included some of the recent leading cases on the jurisdiction of the Ontario Municipal Board and the application of provincial housing and environmental policies.
