Articling and Summer Programs

Davis LLP is a full-service law firm with Canadian offices in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Montréal, Whitehorse, and Yellowknife, and an office in Japan.  Our Canadian offices hire summer students and articled students as needed, and in accordance with local regulatory guidelines.  Each office recruits its own students, but the Student Program is coordinated at the national level by our Director of Student Programs. 

At Davis, we seek to hire outstanding students who will continue with the firm as associates, and ultimately become partners.  We are committed to providing the best possible training and professional development programs to our students; we want all of our students, at the completion of their articles, to be highly-capable professionals ready and keen to commence practice.

We have developed distinct professional development programs for our summer students and for our articled students, recognizing the different levels of experience as between each group. We present a series of nationally-coordinated, weekly seminars for our summer students between May and August, and a separate series of weekly seminars for our articled students during the articling year.  All of our students are welcome to participate in other firm-wide professional development initiatives and practice group meetings of interest.

The articling experience is meant to be rewarding and positive, as well as challenging, and we foster and maintain an open, respectful, inclusive and team-oriented workplace where students are recognized, and treated, as valued professionals.  Our students are encouraged to get involved in the "life of the firm" through participation in events like charity fundraisers, holiday parties, team sports, and other social gatherings.
