Calgary Student Programs

At Davis LLP, we are deeply committed to providing a first class education to our students. We seek to attract and train outstanding law students who will continue with the firm as associates and who will ultimately develop into partners.

The introduction of the Calgary office's Articling Program occurred in 2004/2005 and we launched our Summer Student Program in summer 2011.

Articling Program Description

Davis is deeply committed to providing a first class education to our students. We seek to attract and train outstanding law students who will continue with the firm as associates and who will ultimately develop into partners.

In the Calgary office, articling students rotate through a term with both the Corporate/Commercial and the Litigation group. The purpose of the rotation is to ensure that our students obtain comparably equal exposure to all practice areas. Because of the relatively small number of lawyers, students are afforded the unique opportunity to develop a close working relationship with all of the lawyers, including senior partners who are leading practitioners in their respective fields. Students are also exposed to as much direct client contact as they feel comfortable handling.

Each student is assigned to a principal - a partner who will oversee the student's progress and act as an invaluable source of knowledge, support and guidance - and a mentor - a junior lawyer with whom they can discuss day-to-day matters on an informal basis. Given our strong belief that a student's year is for learning, all lawyers in the firm actively participate in the educational growth of students. Students are encouraged to approach members of the firm to ask questions at any time.
