In this presentation to the Canadian Institute’s 19th Annual Advertising and Marketing Law Conference in Toronto on January 24, 2013, Bill Hearn of Davis LLP, Jolan Storch of the Canadian Olympic Committee and Oliver Gleeson of SDI Marketing address the key elements of negotiating and drafting durable and effective sponsorship agreements, sponsorship activation, and so-called ambush marketing. Lessons from recent high profile disputes involving NHL and Olympic properties are discussed. A sample sponsorship agreement is also provided.
