Donald Campbell co-authored the paper "Securing Canada's Place in Asia: Means, Institutions and Mechanisms" as part of the National Conversation on Asia initiative with fellow task force members Paul Evans and Pierre Lortie.
The report evaluates Canada's current progress in building trade relations in Asia and makes the case that "active participation in key regional institutions [is] an essential component in pursuing priority Canadian initiatives and negotiating bilateral mechanisms with important Asian partners." To devise and successfully implement a trade strategy for pursuing business opportunities in this increasingly lucrative but competitive market, the authors assert that "Canada’s efforts must be large-scale, ambitious, coordinated, cross-partisan, multi-dimensional, and long-term."
