Davis LLP welcomes Gavin MacKenzie as a litigation partner in the firm's Toronto office. Gavin has established himself as a leading litigator with respect to professional responsibility, liability and discipline, appeals, judicial review applications and general civil and commercial litigation. With the continued addition of lawyers in our Toronto office, Gavin’s addition fortifies the firm’s growth in Eastern Canada. This also establishes the firm’s increasing bench strength across the country.
“The regulatory landscape in Canada has become more and more challenging over the years, and our clients require access to outstanding advice and representation,” said Rob Seidel, Firm Managing Partner of Davis LLP. “We are confident that Gavin’s presence in the firm will provide our clients with the experience and expertise they require to protect their interests – a commitment that continues to be the firm’s main driver.”
Gavin brings over 36 years of experience to Davis and has appeared before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also appeared before many tribunals, including the Competition Tribunal, the Ontario Securities Commission, the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board and the professional conduct and discipline committees of numerous professional and regulatory agencies.
Gavin is often retained as an expert witness on professional responsibility and litigation in the United States and Canada. He was elected as a bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada four times, and was elected as treasurer, the highest position in the society from 2006-2008. He was also honoured by induction as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2000, and as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America in 2010.
Gavin’s extensive experience in litigation will add further depth to the firm’s national Litigation Group. This invaluable addition continues the firm’s positive momentum in expanding organically and through strategic acquisition – a move that greatly benefits our clients.
