Cleanup is now underway after the major flooding in Southern Alberta that caused catastrophic damage and loss. In most communities, evacuation orders have been lifted, allowing residents to return home and assess the damage. Businesses in the Downtown core are gradually reopening, but a State of Local Emergency in Calgary still remains in effect.
We are pleased to report that, after several thorough checks of the premises, Davis LLP’s Calgary office has been cleared for occupancy and re-opened today, Thursday, June 27, 2013. Through the firm’s Business Continuity Plan, including the support provided by Davis lawyers across the country, we are satisfied that our clients experienced little to no disruption in service during these challenging times.
Despite the devastation caused by the flooding, the crisis brought out the best in Alberta’s citizens, showing their strength in the face of adversity. Countless stories showcase the community spirit of Albertans - people helping neighbours and strangers in whatever way they can. One of those stories include members of our Calgary office, some of whom have suffered flood losses of their own but did not hesitate to jump to the assistance of others.
Our thoughts continue to be with families, colleagues, peers, and friends who are now dealing with the aftermath of the devastation.
