Davis LLP Participates in the Canadian Institute's 19th Annual Advertising & Marketing Law Conference

Two Davis lawyers are in the spotlight at the prestigious industry event for Canadian marketers.

Bill Hearn, Counsel in the Davis LLP Toronto office, is co-chair of the Canadian Institute's 19th Annual Advertising & Marketing Law Conference with Les Chaiet, Corporate Counsel at Federal Express Canada Ltd.

This two-day conference, a premier networking opportunity which brings together some of Canada's top influencers in the field, will take place at the One King West Hotel in Toronto from January 23-24, 2013. It features a fine-tuned program that will equip attendees with the critical skills and knowledge needed to retain a competitive edge in the fast-paced industry. The extensive range of topics to be covered includes the latest developments in anti-spam legislation, behavioral advertising, social media, online contests, sponsorships, loyalty programs, U.S. trends and more.

As one of the country's leading lawyers in advertising and marketing and the conference co-chair, Hearn will be speaking in the seminar "The Need to Know Legalities of Marketing Sponsorhips," where questions on sponsorships will be addressed, using as a case study the "Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer" event.

Joining Hearn at the conference is Annie Claude Beauchemin, a member of the Sponsorship, Promotional Contest and Gift Card Law Group in the Davis Montreal office. Beauchemin will be co-presenting the workshop "Spotlight on Quebec: How to Work Effectively with the Régie des Alcools, des Courses et des Jeux." The session will provide key updates from the office of the Régie as well as information on how to effectively navigate its system and processes.
