Brandon Barnes Discusses Canada's Regulation of Electronic Trading
Published: Monday, 11 March 2013
Davis LLP's Brandon Barnes was quoted extensively in an Advisor.ca story on the regulation of market integrity with respect to electronic trading.
As the United States is taking heightened measures to crack down on abusive trading practices in high-frequency trading, questions are being raised in Canada on whether similar steps should be taken to ensure investors are properly protected.
Barnes comments on the timeliness of the issue, noting that "National Instrument 23-103, which targets various risks associated with direct electronic access to markets (DEA) came into effect on March 1."
