Davis Team Advises VisualSonics in Sale to SonoSitePublished: Tuesday, 3 August 2010 A team of advisors from Davis LLP was instrumental in the recent sale of VisualSonics Inc., a Toronto-based ultrasound technology company, to U.S. public company SonoSite Inc., with an aggregate transaction value of approximately $80 million. The Davis team was led by Samuel Schwartz and Nicole Kapos, and included Eric Belli-Bivar, David Foulds, Paul Lailey, Michael Richards, Justin Mooney and Andrew Lord. VisualSonics has been a client of the firm for seven years, since shortly after the company's inception. As chief external counsel to VisualSonics, the Davis team played a key role in the growth of this company, which offers leading-edge ultrasound technology for medical purposes. Davis' mandate has included coordinating contract work on a international basis, overseeing agreements with hospitals and educational institutions, coordinating work with U.S.-patent counsel, doing licensing agreements, and resolving tax and employment and labour issues that arose.
