Canada Line Rapid Transit Project Achieves Service CommencementPublished: Thursday, 13 August 2009 On August 12, 2009, the Canada Line Rapid Transit Project formally achieved Service Commencement, a significant milestone in the Project's development, approximately three and a half months ahead of schedule. Service Commencement triggers the formal transition from the design and construction phase of the Project to operation and maintenance, which includes commencement of passenger service. The official opening day for the public is August 17, 2009, with passengers able to enjoy a fare-free ride on the Canada Line from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Davis represents InTransit BC Limited Partnership, the Concessionaire for the Project. The Davis team is led by Doug Buchanan, Q.C. and Yukiko Kojima, and includes Kate Bake-Paterson, Jonathan Gilhen (Projects), Rhys Davies, Q.C. (Litigation), Chris Bennett (Intellectual Property), Patty Kilgour (Corporate Services) and many others who have contributed their expertise to the Project over the past five years. In addition, Don Bell and Warren Downs, among others, played key roles in the negotiation and finalization of the project and financing documents leading up to Financial Close, which took place on July 29, 2005. The Canada Line is a rapid transit system connecting Richmond and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) with downtown Vancouver. |
