Published: Sunday, 19 November 2006

The $1.1 billion Golden Ears Bridge Project was awarded the "Gold Award for Project Financing" at the annual national Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships conference in Toronto, Ontario.

The Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority completed the commercial, financial and final close of the $1.117 billion Golden Ears Bridge Project (the "GEB Project") in March 2006.

Representing the successful proponents, Golden Crossing General Partnership and Bilfinger Berger BOT Inc., were the Toronto and Vancouver offices of Davis LLP, including Ian Bendell, Foreign Legal Consultant and Mitch Mostyn from the Toronto office, and Doug Buchanan, Linda Parsons, Andrew Burton and Kate Bake-Paterson from the Vancouver office.

The GEB Project is considered to be Canada's second largest P3 project after P.E.I.'s Confederation Bridge.

At the same event, the $130 million Kicking Horse Canyon Phase Two P3 Project in British Columbia won the "Award of Merit for Project Financing". Bilfinger Berger BOT Inc. and Trans-Park Highway General Partnership were represented by legal counsel at Davis LLP and CMS Cameron McKenna LLP.

In early 2006, the Canada Line P3 project (RAV Project) won the prestigious "North American Transport Deal of the Year" by Project Finance Magazine (New York) and "Infrastructure Deal of the Year - Americas" by PFI Magazine (U.K.) The Davis LLP team led by Doug Buchanan acted for SNC-Lavalin Inc., the successful proponent, in the $1.8 billion first-ever Canadian rail P3.
