Timothy Duholke, FCA

Since 1979, Tim has specialized in advising on a broad range of taxation and related matters.

His practice includes public and private companies in various industries, including real estate, forestry, technology, entertainment, food distribution and the service sector.

Tim has worked on all aspects of tax and related business transactions including:

• negotiating the sale of Canadian businesses;
• structuring cross-border and international sales and manufacturing operations;
• creating appropriate immigrant asset protection structures;
• providing advice and representation in dealing with Canadian tax authorities;
• creating innovative tax strategies for Canadian resident taxpayers; and
• assisting in structuring tax efficient settlements in matrimonial matters.

He has a special interest in advising on estate planning manners, including structuring business transitions.

Tim has lectured extensively for the School of Chartered Accountancy and the Professional Development programs of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC and Alberta. He has also been a speaker, lecturer and faculty member at conferences and courses offered by the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Tim was chair of the Canadian Tax Foundation in 2008.  He was a member of the Executive Committee from 2000-2004 and 2005-2009 and acted as Interim Executive Director in 2003.  In 2012, Tim was awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of his contributions to the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Tim is a member of the Accounting Standards Oversight Council which serves the public interest by overseeing and providing input into the activities of the accounting standard setters in Canada.

He has chaired and served on numerous committees with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC.

Tim has been involved in many community activities including acting as Chairman of the Western Lacrosse Association and Treasurer of the Michael J. Fox Theatre Society.

He was a member of the 2001 BC Fiscal Review Panel which undertook a review of and reported to the Premier on the status of British Columbia's financial situation.
