Rachel Hamilton's practice is focused on corporate/commercial, real estate and pension and benefits law. She was recently responsible for the completion of a $40-million dollar sale of a commercial condominium development in Alberta and has advised one of Alberta's largest construction companies on numerous matters. She has also assisted a renewable energy company in securing a $25-million grant from the government of Alberta to turn forestry waste into clean electricity.
Rachel handles complex issues and provides on-going strategic legal and business advice to senior management of major clients, including private businesses, real estate developers, secured lenders and receivers, and pension plan sponsors. She advises on a wide range of issues including:
Rachel also provides comprehensive advice to sponsors, governing bodies and administrators of pension and other forms of benefit plans. In addition, Rachel provides advice to clients on renewable energy projects and recently provided advice on the development of a biomass-to-energy facility in Alberta. She is also a contributor to the firm's climate change and environmental blogs, both of which have garnered recognition for their coverage of environmental issues and the emerging regulatory framework surrounding carbon markets. In 2010, Rachel, recognized by the legal profession for her unparalleled accomplishments and expertise, was honored with the prestigious "Lexpert Rising Star Leading Lawyer Under 40" award.
