 Michael Styczen, P.Eng

Michael Styczen is a senior associate in the firm's Calgary office, practising corporate and commercial law in the energy sector.

Michael specializes in commercial transactions in the energy sector, including the development of conventional oil and gas and shale gas, LNG, conventional pipeline projects, and electric generation and transmission.

Michael's practice focuses on the energy sector in both British Columbia and Alberta, as well as on foreign (particularly Japanese) investment in Canada.

Michael has led or assisted on a large number of significant domestic and international transactions in the energy sector, including the purchase and sale of numerous shale gas, oil sands and conventional assets, electricity generation assets, clean (wind, solar and hydroelectric) electricity, and pipelines.

Prior to his legal career, he practised as a professional engineer working as an environmental and operations supervisor in the electricity industry and as an environmental engineer in petroleum refining.

Michael is a marathoner and triathlete, and has contributed to a number of non-legal publications including Canadian Running magazine.
