He practises in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on competition and intellectual property law

He has spent his entire career with Davis except for a leave of absence in 2000, when he worked with a prominent Washington, D.C.-based firm devoting his time exclusively to matters involving U.S. and European antitrust and competition laws.

Kevin has advised and acted for public institutions, trade associations, individuals and businesses on competition law issues involving international and domestic cartel (price fixing) investigations, class action defence and other private actions under the Competition Act, acquisitions, pre-notification filings, advancing complaints of clients to the Competition Bureau, commercial agreements, the design and implementation of compliance programs, and marketing and trade practices. 

He has appeared before various courts and tribunals, including the Competition Tribunal and the Supreme Court of Canada, in competition law case. He has acted in two out of the six contested mergers cases heard by the Competion Tribunal since the 1986 amendments to the merger provisions of the Competition Act.

His intellectual property experience includes litigation of disputes involving patents, trade-marks and copyright.

Kevin is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association National Competition Law Section. He has served in the past as Chair of its Mergers Committee and Criminal Matters Committee.

He has had the opportunity to speak and present papers about competition law and intellectual property law to professional and business audiences on various occasions.

Currently, Kevin is an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law where he teaches competition law.  He has also acted as a guest instructor for the British Columbia Professional Legal Training Course.

Kevin received a bachelor of arts (Honours) degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1990, obtaining the gold medal in honours economics. He then studied law at the University of Toronto, where he graduated with honours in 1993. He received numerous awards and scholarships in the course of his studies.
