Biography
Gwen K. Randall, Q.C. is a senior partner and head of the Employment and Labour Practice Group in the Davis Calgary office. Ms. Randall has a broad range of experience representing clients in judicial and administrative proceedings at all levels in each of the jurisdictions listed above. Her specialty areas include labour, employment, pensions, human rights, mediation, arbitration and professional negligence. Recent experience includes representing:
- Major Alberta and national companies in complex employment issues resulting from divestitures, mergers or acquisitions
- Pension trustees in a large bankruptcy case in British Columbia (ultimately argued successfully in the Supreme Court of Canada)
- Province of Alberta as a mediator in a dispute between the Alberta Cancer Board and the radiologists of Alberta
- United States Department of Justice appointed under the RICO Act as Canadian International Election Officer, for the international Teamsters Union (since 1989)
- A large international oil and gas company in development of project labour agreements for major and international projects
- A group of leading Canadian landlords arising from expected trespass or violence during the World Petroleum Congress in Calgary
- An important international oil and gas company in a sexual harassment complaint involving a senior employee based offshore
- National clients requiring employment or labour advice in more than one province for development of national employment strategies
- Alberta lawyers as defendants in litigation related to professional negligence
