Emma Ferguson is an associate in the Vancouver office of Davis LLP where she practices family law and wills, estates and trusts. Emma joined Davis LLP after summering and articling with Davis LLP. Before joining Davis LLP, Emma acted as a judicial law clerk for six justices of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Emma's family practice includes advising clients on issues relating to division of assets, spousal support, child support, and custody and guardianship for both married and unmarried spouses. She advises on, negotiates and drafts marriage and cohabitation agreements. Emma also assists senior family law counsel with matters involving complex financial and commercial structures, trusts and multiple jurisdictions. In addition to her family law practice, Emma has a broad wills, estates and trusts practice. She advises clients on all aspects of estate and incapacity planning, including wills, alter ego and family trusts, powers of attorney and representation agreements. Emma has experience involving clients with disabilities or their family members on the use of trusts to protect government disability benefitis and assists clients with applications to be appointed committee for an incapacitated family member. Emma also advises clients on the administration of estates, including applications for grants of probate and letters of administration. Emma has completed Family Law Mediation Levels I and II with the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia and has a keen interest in resolving disputes through alternative methods to the court process.
