Biography

Douglas Shell is a partner of Davis LLP. He has extensive experience in creditors' rights and insolvency law and, in particular, acting for secured lenders, receivers, Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act monitors and bankruptcy trustees in commercial foreclosure, receivership, CCAA and bankruptcy (including proposal) matters.

Mr. Shell has expertise in negotiating and drafting effective restructuring, forbearance, "look-see" and realization agreements, providing opinions on Personal Property Security Act matters and providing strategic advice and opinions to financial institutions in a variety of banking matters.

Mr. Shell's corporate/commercial practice is focused in the area of bank financing, in which he acts for financial institutions in commercial mortgage transactions, small business financing, financing and banking services to First Nations, preparing priority and interlender agreements, and preparing banking agreements for commercial financings and loan syndications.
