Diana Dorey
Associate Counsel, Vancouver
Diana Dorey enjoys a diverse litigation practice with Davis LLP with an emphasis on health and disability insurance, personal injury, multi-party tort litigation, class actions and employment litigation. Diana is counsel for a public auto insurer, and is local counsel for two national lease financing companies and their industry association providing advice and representation in complex motor vehicle injury claims, including issues involving statutory vicarious liability.
Diana also advises on insurance matters for corporate, banking and insurance clients, and acts for a national insurance company and two British Columbia financial institutions in disputes involving employment, disability, group and individual benefits. Diana currently serves as a Director for the Canadian Bar Insurance Association, and Canadian Bar Financial Services Corporation. Diana has appeared as counsel at all court levels in British Columbia as well as before the Federal Court of Canada, both Trial and Appellate Divisions, and the Workers' Compensation Board.
Diana received her Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology with First Class Honours from Simon Fraser University in 1986. She received numerous awards and scholarships in the course of her studies including the British Commonwealth Scholarship for post-graduate studies at the University of Cambridge. She obtained a Masters of Philosophy degree from the University of Cambridge in criminology in 1987. She then studied law at the University of British Columbia and obtained her law degree in 1990. Prior to joining Davis, Diana was a law clerk to the Honourable Chief Justice Esson and the Honourable Associate Chief Justice Campbell of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
