Chris Barnett is a partner at Davis LLP and practises in the areas of administrative and regulatory law, with a focus on environmental, municipal, and planning advice and approvals.
He specializes in providing clients in both the public and private sectors with strategic advice on co-ordinating and addressing the various levels of approvals required for complex projects.
Chris has expertise in advising public sector clients with respect to growth management issues, aggregate resource policies and ward boundary reviews.
He also advises large landowner groups on environmental assessment processes and approvals and the implications of provincial policies and initiatives.
Chris is the head of the Toronto office Municipal and Land Use Planning practice. He is listed in the Best Lawyers in Canada 2014 for Municipal Law, and is "Repeatedly Recommended" in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for Property Development.
Chris appears regularly before the Ontario Municipal Board, and has appeared before Environmental Review Tribunal and all levels of courts in Ontario. His practice has included some of the recent leading cases on the jurisdiction of the Ontario Municipal Board and the application of provincial housing and environmental policies.
He also practises in the area of general civil litigation.
