COPE Local 378 - and - Alma Mater Society

Acted for the Alma Mater Society of UBC before the Labour Relations Board on a union's proposed consolidation of two bargaining units.

COPE Local 378 (the "Union") was the successor union for a new unit of security guards. The Union sought to consolidate the guard with a well-established unit of clerical employees, who were represented by the same Union. The Alma Mater Society UBC (the "Employer") opposed the consolidation on the basis that the terms and conditions of employment of the two units differed significantly. The Labour Relations Board accepted the Employer's argument.
