GameStop is Being Asked to ... StopA class action complaint has reportedly been filed against the retailer GameStop on the basis that it is "deceptively misleading" customers into believing that they can download all content advertised on the boxes of its used games. This is allegedly not the case because the content can only be downloaded once without charge when the game is purchased new since the access codes for same can only be used once. The class action complaint was initiated by James Collins, a customer who was reportedly required to pay $15 to download the advertised content on a used copy of Dragon Age: Origins. Collins allegedly purchased the used game for $54.99 plus taxes which was $5 less than what was being asked for a new copy of the game. Therefore, in the end, Collins claims he was required to pay $10 more than for a brand new copy of the game in order to have access to the downloadable content. In the class action complaint, among other things, Collins is asking the court for compensatory damages, restitution and punitive damages. Coverage at UK.PS3.ing.com |
