Jokes about in-laws may be unwise

A comedian, Sunda Croonquist, was sued by her mother-in-law and other in-laws after making them the object of jokes with a racial component posted in her blog and in videos on her website. The in-laws, apparently not appreciative of the comedian's sense of humour, commenced a court action in the United States and claimed defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Although the comedian was successful in having the claims dismissed, damage to the relationships themselves may not be as easily resolved, including as the comedian unrepentantly continues to make the videos featuring her in-laws available on her website.
