According to, Sony has taken further steps to demonstrate that its legal action against hacker George Hotz for his PlayStation 3 jailbreak should proceed in California, rather than his home State of New Jersey.

Reportedly, further to Sony's successful subpoena to, amongst other things, obtain information regarding contributions from California to Mr. Hotz's PayPal account between January 1, 2009 and February 1, 2011, Sony is arguing that the large amount of people who downloaded Mr. Hotz's jailbreak content in California (which allegedly totals to over 5,000 Californian IP addresses) creates justification for the lawsuit to proceed in California. Subpoenas obtained by Sony have also apparently revealed evidence that Mr. Hotz owned a PlayStation Network account. Mr. Hotz appears to have currently relocated to South America.
