Australia finishes Mortal Kombat

In February, the Australian Classification Board (which sets ratings for video games) delivered a nasty blow to the upcoming Mortal Kombat game by giving it a "Refused Classification" rating. The Board said that no other rating was available because the game's explicit violence did not make the most stringent classification of MA15+ appropriate. The practical result is that the game cannot be sold in Australia.

Publisher Warner Bros. appealed the decision, and the Board has now completed its own finishing move by upholding the RC classification.
